Since the formation of the company, Jensen Design & Survey, Inc. has been actively involved in assisting the agricultural community in various land development projects in Ventura County. These projects have included planning, engineering, and surveying services for ranch subdivisions, agricultural grading, and large-scale commercial agricultural operations consisting of greenhouses, packing houses, cold storage and processing buildings. We are also the first consultant to process permits for Agritourism projects which include activities that will promote agriculture in Ventura County. We continue to make it a priority to serve this $1.5 billion industry.

Sine Qua Non, Oak View, CA Jensen Design & Survey, Inc. provided entitlement permitting, engineering, and construction survey services for a 12,500 square foot state-of-the-art wine making facility in Oak View. The building contains designated areas for grape crushing, fermentation, barrel storage, case goods storage, offices, and a quality control laboratory. The facility will begin producing wine in fall 2011. The project required a Conditional Use Permit from the County of Ventura and a sewer main extension from Ojai Valley Sanitary District which triggered LAFCo review and approval. Engineering services included grading and stormwater plans, utilities, and was modified during the design process to include an onsite farm manager’s house. Due to the project’s location and nature of operation, special attention was required in negotiating project conditions for the CUP. In lieu fees for road improvements were proposed and significantly reduced through negotiations with County Transportation.

Houweling Nursery, Camarillo, CA This project involved the permitting, design, and engineering of three new agricultural structures at a 160-acre facility. This included two 20-acre metal and glass greenhouses for hydroponic tomato production and one building consisting of office, packing, cooling, and loading facilities. Jensen Design & Survey, Inc. managed the submittal and processing of necessary permits and prepared construction documents. Construction survey services have also been provided at the site. Project-specific issues, such as affordable housing requirements and construction within the 100-year floodplain were mitigated in this Planning Commission approved Conditional Use Permit.

Mission Produce, Oxnard, CA Mission Produce operates an avocado packing house and cold storage facility in Oxnard. This project consisted of entitlement permitting, engineering, and survey for the construction of two additional cold storage buildings. The building site was located in the center of the facility, therefore requiring special attention to drainage and on-site traffic flow. The entitlement permitting included processing a Conditional Use Permit and variance to increase the lot coverage. Survey services included topographic and construction survey.

Limoneira Company Jensen Design & Survey, Inc. has assisted Limoneira with their land use permitting for their Solar Orchard (an onsite, one megawatt solar power facility), entitlement permitting for Agricultural Promotional Uses (agri tourism activities consisting of hot air balloon rides, ranch tours, Packing House tours, bicycle tours, gourmet dinners in the orchards, and chuck wagon lunches), and entitlement permitting to host weddings and fundraisers at their corporate headquarters. Jensen Design & Survey, Inc. is also providing civil engineering services to Limoneira Company’s Farm Worker Housing project, a 74 unit development.
